What You'll Do

As an On-Call Driver, you'll safely transport Sioux Steel products and materials to customers, dealers, and other designated locations while representing the company in a professional manner. You'll be responsible for ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and with excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company pickup trucks with or without trailers.
  • Transport products, materials, and equipment to customer and dealer locations.
  • Secure loads properly to ensure safe transportation.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Report vehicle maintenance concerns or safety issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and required documentation.
  • Communicate with Shipping, Production, and customers regarding delivery schedules and updates.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials when needed.
  • Represent Sioux Steel professionally while on the road and at customer locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT certification
  • Experience towing trailers with a pickup truck required.
  • Previous delivery or transportation experience preferred.
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to safety and safe driving practices.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel as needed throughout the region.
  • Must be 21 or older


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently climb in and out of vehicles and trailers.
  • Secure loads using straps, chains, or other tie-down equipment.
  • Sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Ability to safely load and unload products when necessary.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.


Work Environment

  • Primarily operates company vehicles while traveling to customer locations.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, dealers, shipping personnel, and production staff.
  • Work schedule varies based on delivery needs and production demands.
  • Travel is required and may include overnight trips depending on delivery schedules.
